Space Syntax Analysis of the Architectural Competition Projects of the Repurposed “Maçka Police Station, ITU Faculty of Business Administration”

Öz

The aim of the study was to analyze the projects obtained as a result of the architectural project competition of the Faculty of Business Administration, which will be located in the ITU Maçka Campus, with the space syntax method. For this purpose, it has been determined as a sub-objective to carry out a study on how the space propositions brought by these projects will change the relationship with the historical building (in terms of providing environments of interaction, meeting and encounters in the space). In this context, an analysis was made on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize projects that relate to the historical building in the project area and the indoor space, and as a result of the study, the analyzes were compared with each other and interpreted from a complementary point of view. The promises of the projects in terms of providing environments of interaction, meeting and encounters in the space have been evaluated and interpreted on the basis of integration values. The use of the space syntax method, which enables the spatial organization to reveal the relationship between user interaction and integration value in the space, is important for the purposes of directing people, bringing them together and making use of the space, and provides important data for researchers who design spaces.

Öz

Çalışmanın amacı, İTÜ Maçka Kampüsü içinde konumlanacak olan İşletme Fakültesi yapısının mimari proje yarışması sonucu elde edilen projelerinin mekan dizimi yöntemi ile analizini yapmaktadır. Bu amaç dahilinde, bu projeler ile getirilen mekan önermelerinin tarihi yapı ile olan ilişkilerinin kullanımı (mekandaki etkileşim, buluşma ve karşılaşma ortamı sunması açısından) nasıl değiştireceği yönünde bir inceleme gerçekleştirilmesi, bir alt amaç olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda proje alanında mevcut bulunan tarihi yapıyla kapalı mekan ile ilişki kuran 1., 2. ve 3. Ödül projeleri üzerinde analiz yapılmış, çalışma sonucunda analizler birbiriyle karşılaştırılarak bütünleyici bir bakış açısıyla yorumlama yapılmıştır. Projelerin mekandaki etkileşim, buluşma ve karşılaşma ortamı sunması açısından vaadleri entegrasyon değerleri üzerinden değerlendirilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Mekan organizasyonunun mekandaki kullanıcı etkileşimi ve entegrasyon değeri ilişkisinin ortaya çıkarılmasını sağlayan mekan dizimi yönteminin kullanılması, insanları yönlendirme, bir araya getirme ve mekanı kullandırma amaçları bakımından önem taşımakta, mekan tasarlayan araştırmacılar açısından önemli veriler sağlamaktadır.
